"A New Narrative for Creatives in Madison."

The days of blaming our environment for our lack of is becoming increasingly invalid. Our resources are limitless and the financial cost of entry to earning income as an artist or content creator is damn near FREE. The task is getting the creatives to see themselves as more than what's inside their bio descriptions. Use me (1neofmani) for an example. I am a rap artist first, but I over-stand the complete value of my offering. To share my gifts with the world, I must first brainstorm topics that interest me and the people I want to reach. How much does it really cost to think? Secondly, I must write down my thoughts to actualize them on any level. This process will cost me time but, here I am writing this blog entry. Lastly, I must be willing to share my creations with the world physically and digitally. Word of mouth is still the best form of promotion especially with the leveraging of the internet. Although most social media apps allow users to engage for FREE, some of them reserve premium features for paying users of their service. Again, the cost of entry has become quite condensed.

The narrative to focus on now is the final presentation of what WE (content creators) are offering. While it can be great to access your audience without gatekeepers' approval. Where there is good there bad isn't too far behind. The good thing is we control our narrative as to how we want to share our gifts and talents with the world. The bad thing is, some artists are going Direct-To-Consumer with pre-mature material. The art of "Artist Development" has become an unpopular demand and truth. Especially in the digital space of music consumption. The desired formula is to steal beats from YouTube, record your vocals over an unmixed track, avoid mastering engineers, only to return to YouTube to upload content you don't fully own the rights to. We're not even going to speak on the lyrics in the music. These errors can be addressed and corrected in the process of developing the final presentation of your art. Easier said than performed.

What Are Your 2023 Goals?

  • 0%Do more networking and public speaking

You can vote for more than one answer.

Once you master the art of developing your artistry, you can now use your curated talents to service other artists and industries. For example: an artist preparing for a live show, must rehearse their set list, organize merchandise engagements, and get the word out about their upcoming performance(s). These all have job descriptions that most artists view as the results of being an artist. What they don't know is they can now add an event planner to their revenue streams of creating passive income to support their artistry. Without developing your art of choice this revenue stream will not bare reproducing fruits and/or that of which you do produce will dry out. Again, mastering your craft(s) allows you to uncover side hustles while still pursuing what you love. "Easy Wins."

Most of your side hustles can be completed from the comfort of your own home or office. "Local Is The New Global" because of resources like the internet. Nowadays all any creative needs are camera phones, wifi, content worth watching, and a bank account to send the check to. Attention Is Currency. If you can get em to watch you, I can almost guarantee you there's a social media platform willing to pay you in exchange for the traffic you're driving to their site. When was the last time you reviewed your social media friends list? How many reside in the same city as you? How many reside in the same country as you? See where I'm going with this? #LocalIsTheNewGlobal. Once I share my content online there are no limits as to where it will end up or who will decide to engage with it. Those days of having to pack up everything and move your family across the world are o-vay (over). This goes back to the lost Art of Artist Development. Just because you share content doesn't mean your life is about to change for the better. Like anything worth having, it takes time to connect with your tribe on or offline. That's not to say they are not out there but sharing premature content without developing a plan will only make it harder for them to find you. When you have a plan, you have direction. This will lead you to your tribe as their thought leader or source of guidance. Don't play yourself. Plan It, Don't Panic.

Which brings me to my final thought. Not for 1 second should you shoulder this attempt.
