LessWork Local Lifestyle Partners w/ Quality CBD

Why should you support LessWork Monthly Music Meetings?

Well, that would depend on how and if you are aware of what LessWork Local Lifestyle represents? We are a collage of different artists with intentions to complete a common goal. Which is to “Netflix the Music Business.” Our Monthly Music Meetings are designed to target artists, creatives, businesses, and organizations of not only the work we do for ourselves, but also the work we plan to do with them.

As an artist, I know the pain points of creating and distributing my art to the world of consumers. The biggest pain points are the costs to share my music. From recording, mixing/mastering, shooting a video, uploading to streaming platforms, and promoting it to reach my target audience. Every step of the way has been monetized by third-party services that are transferable beyond artists' solutions. Support LessWork here.

Our game for this month was a hit! We played a game where the participants were broken into two groups. Each team was given 3 seconds to identify popular brand logos. The point of this game was to highlight the influential aspect BLACK culture plays in centering global brands as household names. LessWork plays the role of the underdog on the music scene in Madison, WI. For one, we are a for profit and BLACK owned business. Did I mention we are BLACK with a business that focuses on the rap/hip-hop culture? Our blog series, LessWork Literature, is centered on covering our cultural contributions in Madison, year around. As a local artist, it is invaluable to have coverage outside of your own words but who better to tell our stories than us? In my role as one of the faces and voices of LessWork, I’ve created a villain type persona based on being outspoken and challenging the local status quo to put some respect on the talent in this city. I AM HIM! aka y’all REEL DADDY!

We found success in partnering with Tara Wilhelmi (EOTO Culturally Rooted) in the last two years. Every Monthly Music Meeting is funded in partnership with EOTO Culturally Rooted securing spaces, providing tables, chairs, food, and more. We could not offer our services at the levels we’ve elevated without the financial and resourceful support of EOTO.

Our entry, entertainment, and food at our Monthly Music Meetings will always be FREE. We provide water, juice, and fruit as a networking enhancement. The food for this meeting was provided by The Walking Jerk. I wish I could give a review on the food, but it was gone before I could settle down and try it. That is a good problem though because in the past we’ve over ordered food and would have leftovers so, all the food gone means two things: we budgeted accordingly, and our guests loved it. Free food always tastes better too. The menu was “vegan galore” with two appetizing options:

Fried chicken sliders - (crispy chicken style tofu patty, mayo, and pickle)

Philly cheese steak - buttered buns, vegan steak (beyond meat) peppers, onions mozzarella cheese

House salad: Lettuce, tomato, cucumber, vegan cheese, croutons. Shout Out the chef: Daijah.

March meeting theme was: “Personal Path in the Music Business”

I delivered a PowerPoint from my 2019 presentation titled: “State of Fashion” highlighting the benefits of artists viewing themselves as brands instead of artists. Local artists weaken their personal brands when they are seen wearing designer brands without an official partnership.

My apparel was provided by Serieux Clothing, Madison’s longest running BLACK owned retail apparel store. The owner, Aim and I have a great relationship that we’ve grown to equally admire over the years. When I’m not wearing LessWork or other local brands, my public image is sponsored by Serieux Clothing. Mention this blog (LessWork Literature) or our WORT FM radio interview with Aim in-store, (3371 E Washington Ave, Madison, WI) and receive a LessWork discount at your checkout. When you do something well enough to receive notoriety, your looks, views, and ways of life can inspire others to follow everything you do. The beneficiary of this effect should be you and your immediate family. Not brands who will never offer you ownership in their lion’s share of equity. Partner with necessary industries until you can purchase everything you need to create and distribute your contributions in-house.

WE can’t have a Monthly Music Meeting without music! This is where things get crucial because the curator of our music is a local DJ and source of experience. DJ Sneaky Gator officially joined the LessWork team as our official DJ last year in October, for our first Monthly Music Meeting. Gator is someone who overstands the vision of LessWork and made a commitment to contract his services to supply sound vibes of every meeting. This is big for the brand and our tagline: “It’s Less Work, When We Do Things Together.”

Our first-time working w/ DJ Sneaky Gator in the form of a live performance came from a joint venture we started with a group of local creatives under the name of CEOs, to host live shows in and around the state of Wisconsin. It’s funny because LessWork is a for profit business that is run similarly to a non-profit organization. DJ Sneaky Gator noticed this about our LessWork and stated that he plans to service our Monthly Music Meetings at no-charge. That’s Right! We got Gator locking in with LessWork every 3rd Sunday at Quality CBD from 11am to 6pm. You can’t stop the REIGN!

Speaking of Quality CBD, recently Tara and I invited Tony (owner of Quality CBD) on our radio show titled: Talk About It via Tuesday 8 O’Clock Buzz show, on WORT FM 89.9. Tony enjoyed the show so much he wanted to secure space every other month to connect on-air and speak on the happenings at his shop, located at 1222 Williamson Street in Madison, WI. In exchange for spotlighting his moves to our audience on-air, we agreed to host our Monthly Music Meetings inside Quality CBD with the intention of bringing more people to the shop. This is BIG for hip-hop because our contributions at Quality CBD will be held in the daytime to combat the local stigma of hip-hop being the barrier of a bad night (which is false as fvkk!). Our successful events in affiliation with rap and hip-hop gatherings will assist with reversing that narrative. With weed being damn near legal in Wisconsin, this partnership has endless reasons to get excited. Quality CBD is a smoke shop where you can smoke inside. I don’t know too many rap artists or even R&B artists who don’t smoke. In the infamous words of Pimp C, "Smoke Something BITCH!"

Music, Smoke, Food, and repeat. Ian runs the store’s current management team. A laid-back dude with extensive knowledge on the cannabis industry. I can only see us doing remarkable things together. I may even get Ian to bless the next meeting with an exclusive on-stage interview on the cannabis industry. What yall think? We’ve done our job, now it’s on y’all to pull up every 3rd Sunday of each month to make this isolated attempt as grand as what we saw when we stamped it. Keep watching this partnership as we plan on doing way more awareness campaigning with Quality CBD. They got the right 1nes! Easy Wins. Momma WE Made It!

Quality CBD holds about 60 - 80 people comfortably, including tables and chairs. This is a call-to-action for all seekers of a fun time on a blessed Sunday to attend our once-a-month meetings as we continue creating lanes for local artists to make a living while gaining the confidence to officially call Madison, Wisconsin their home. In addition to our partnership with Quality CBD, we just locked in a performance residency at Cargo Coffee on (750 East Washington Avenue). This is important for showcasing what we and other performing artists have learned throughout our Monthly Music Meetings. Our residency begins June 10, 2023 at 6pm to 8pm. Join our loyalty program to stay connected to all upcoming events by texting 18442768933 or signup online for more details.

NEXT Meeting Theme: “The Modern Music Business” takes place on April 16, 2023 - 11 am - 6pm.
