It's getting harder to label K.I.L.O as anything less than PURE. Everything she touched has turned into something solid. Since picking up her 1st microphone in 2010 inside a basement located on Darbo Drive on Madison's east side. K.I.L.O weighed her options of becoming a buyer or a seller of rap music. Safe to say, K.I.L.O cashed in.
Looking Back
In the beginning the "New Religion" rapper performance circuits were and still are dominated by her male peers in Madison, Wisconsin. With local leaders like Taye Sharkiee, P. Swagger, Will E. Banks, Marcus Porter, Willie Wright, RED TheBully, Chaos, including her LessWork partner 1neofmani all filled the bills. Unless you seen her drinking her beverage repeatedly. You would never know she was nervous as shit for absolutely no reason. Having the privilege to experience a K.I.L.O set live, leaves an ever-lasting impression on her audience. Making it okay to be a bit concerned about doing well because she always found her comfort zone within her flow, the beat patterns, and through crowd participation.
Fast Forward:
K.I.L.O body of work to date includes the following complete audio projects:
Watch Your Toes, Stepping On Toes, and her solo project L.I.A.R. all which are available in physical CDs on her website under the music tab.
"No artist should chase perfection because it is our imperfections that defines not only our artistry but our angles to be different." - K.I.L.O aka Skit'Lz
Standing Out
K.I.L.O isn't ever the tallest person in any room but her ReiGnBow style and unique rap cadence has left an impression on the Madison music scene. Rising amongst the men and women as a PURE contestant and template to marketing your local artists. K.I.L.O aka Skit'Lz has became a household name Extending her value outside of the traditional local artists approach.
Fresh off another victory lap of success at the Madison Area Music Awards. K.I.L.O managed to match last year's collection. Taking home Madison's Best Hip-Hop Performer for the 2nd year. With COVID-19 affecting her ability to commit to her 2020 performance schedule. K.I.L.O as well as all of us at LessWork took a financial blow due to the instant shutdown of the world.
Still trying to adapt to what seems like happened overnight. The Stepping On Toes artist is "Under Pressure" of losing her momentum and monetary moves she's been building annually for the last 3 years. Denying K.I.L.O from delivering colorful content in the prideful faces of her LGBTQ+ support system. "We are faced with some tough decisions to remain a strong resource for ourselves as well as the many local artists building their brand under the guidance of LessWork strategies."
Seeing The Future
Refusing to go out without a fight. K.I.L.O has managed to remain relevant to the digital demand of live shows. Some of her recent virtual shows includes 2020 OutReach Magic Pride Festival (2:18:23 mark) and Fierce Females Online Virtual Show. K.I.L.O is still accepting booking and set to perform the weekend of this blog's release at Cargo Music Live Stream - On Location with K.I.L.O. aka SkitL'z
