UJAMAA Breese Through Sunday Funday Kick-Off

Madison's frontrunners have found a way to fill our calendars with real reasons to get Black folks outside. UJAMAA Business Network is playing BIG parts in this push with the feedback at a level 10 from their kickoff Sunday Funday events! This fall and winter season “finnabe” a Breese! The business network recently secured a monthly partnership with The Forward Club (the home bar to Breese Stevens Field) which is managed by Tristan. Tristan, a local artist himself, "overstands" the immediate need and underlying demand for cultural inclusion in the City of Madison, throughout the year. “Just give me the dates and we will get them locked in” Tristan said.

UJAMAA Business Network is focused on meeting their network and recruits where they are, all while having a fun time. Whoever said all work and no play couldn’t have been speaking on behalf of UJAMAA Business Network. A local organization seeking to unite and empower the 7% black population in Madison, WI. Aligning the network with The Forward Club can be seen as an example of the value of being connected to a network like UJAMAA. After reading articles and witnessing something “pretty dope happening down the block from Breese at Cargo Coffee East. Tristan emailed Breyon “1neofmani” Sommerville, (co-owner of LessWork Local Lifestyle and member of UJAMAA Business Network) with interest in seeing how Breese Stevens Field and The Forward Club can become assets to the HipHop community in Madison.

After emails and in-person planning sessions, Madison can now add Sunday Fundays (UJAMAA), monthly poetry w/ Rausea Moore, and monthly activities led by LessWork Local Lifestyle. Subscribe to our email list to remain in the loop. Tara Wilhelmi (UJAMAA) wanted to offer a night off and filled with fun friends, music, and fundraising for UJAMAA’s Black Male Hygiene Kits which consist of:

Every 2nd Sunday at The Forward Club you can support UJAMAA and black men in Madison by supporting this monthly pull-up. Replace your payment at the door by providing suggested donation items such as;

  • Black Male Specific Hair Care Products (Shampoo, Conditioner, Grease, Wave Brush, Hair Pic, Wide Tooth Comb)

  • Skin Care Products (Soap, Lotion, Body)

  • Dental Care Products (Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Floss, Mouthwash)

  • Personal Hygiene Bag | Boxers | Briefs | Socks | T-Shirts |

Get used to doing things differently at Breese Stadium. It's different when you party with Black Business owners. They just want a day off to relax and not worry about the next sale or social media like. Words can’t explain the vibes of watching the photographer (K.I.L.O.) take photos in stride of her bop while also learning how to do the Tamia dance.

It’s a vibe you have to be there for. It’s the laughs, it’s feeling of family, it’s the consistent look around the room to continuously spot local legends like Rob D’z casually peek his head around the pillar to check the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants score after the Packers handed the Bears their 106th overall loss between the two teams’ rivalry. At the time the score was 16 (DAL) to 0 (NYG).

Dj G Money got the Business Network on the floor with songs like the Cha Cha slide. It’s environments like the one set to unfold at The Forward Club that is causing Madison to pop-up on out-of-towners to-do-list. Madison, this is where you want to be without the pressures of being somebody. We say that with honor because UJAMAA Business Network is full of prime-time players who have motion in and outside of the network. The proof is in the collaborations. When resources are combined, they become a powerful force to reckon with. As we like to say, it’s a “Easy Win” when you have genuine interest in showing loving and giving back to your people. Whenever we speak or hear about UJAMAA, it’s always in reference to opportunities and creating ways to enjoy saying “We in Madison Tonight!” $/0 UJAMAA Business Network for being a part of the solution for sustaining black culture and causes in Madison, Wisconsin.

A huge takeaway from UJAMAA partnering with The Forward Club is the access that comes with having success. Tara Wilhelmi spoke on postponing UJAMAA Business Network annual event "For Da Culture" on her radio show "Tuesday 8 O'clock Buzz" on WORT FM 89.9. The UJAMAA Business Network owner said "Madison can now expect the network to move the event from McPike Park to Breese Stevens Stadium next year, May 2024. The cultural event is known for gathering the culture of Madison's black artists, entrepreneurs, residents, and vendors to celebrate, enrich, and educate each other. Follow the network for more artists, entrepreneurs, volunteer, and vendor opportunities regarding "For Da Culture and more.
